KNOW WHERE YOU STAND
- Calculations-As-You-Go
Eliminate the guesswork. With Calculations-As-You-Go, if a question arises about the proper withholdings and deductions behaving as anticipated, you can immediately see what your statement will look like when finalized. With no pre-processing steps, pay statements are continually updated in real-time including taxes, percentage deductions, arrearages, general ledger, labor distribution and workers compensation.
STOP ISSUES BEFORE THEY OCCUR
- Payroll Alerts
Depending on desired workflow and timing of payroll finalization, multiple hands may be touching employee and payroll data. With several configurable settings available, payroll alerts ensure items that require future attention, such as a new garnishment, are addressed with a single click of a button. An HR manager, for instance, could set up a new garnishment for an employee, while entering a note configured to require sign off from the Payroll Administrator to ensure set up was conducted properly. Not only does the Payroll Administrator see there is a note to double-check this garnishment, they can be required to sign off on it by clicking a button, which would date and time stamp their sign off.
TAKE THE GUESSWORK OUT OF TAXES
- Geospatial Tax Identification (Geo-Coding Tax Lookups)
- Reciprocity Between States
If you have ever needed to process payrolls in states like Pennsylvania, Ohio or Kentucky, you know determining proper local taxes can be tricky. Accurately calculating taxes as they relate to municipalities, school districts and other local taxes, such as a watershed management tax, can make processing very challenging. Without having a systematic way of determining proper tax jurisdictions, applying appropriate taxes on an employee level is more difficult and can lead to tax penalties for you and increase business risk.
Taking the guess work out of which taxes apply to whom, the system's tax engine automatically factors information obtained directly from local taxing authorities, and uses geographic coordinates to accurately depict exactly which local taxes apply for a particular employee. This next generation Geospatial Tax Identification mitigates the risk of relying solely on zip codes, which in some cases may not accurately identify the appropriate taxes to apply. In addition to determining proper local taxes at the employee level based on appropriate municipalities and school districts, employer obligations are also easily defined regardless of what states they operate out of.
For employers who have workers crossing state lines, properly addressing reciprocity laws is no easy task either, as these laws vary between states. The payroll system automatically takes into account four factors to ensure proper taxes are withheld: each employee's home address, the work location's address, whether the employer has nexus with that location, and whether the employee has filed a statement of non-residency. Automating this process saves time and ensures compliance by virtually eliminating the chance for manual errors.
IF A PROBLEM HAPPENS TO SLIP THROUGH THE CRACK
- Correction Delta
Let's face it. Mistakes happen. Employees entering dependents or timesheet data incorrectly, or payroll professionals forgetting to enter exemptions or address changes, can all contribute to an incorrect pay statement. What do you do if payroll has already been processed? What if your correction process was already 90 percent complete?
Easily run an adjustment payroll, or correction of a particular pay statement, eliminating the need to manually calculate what the pay statement should have been, the difference between the original and correct statement, and also entering the difference as an adjustment.
A Correction Delta simplifies this process by allowing you to automatically create an identical copy of a previous pay statement, providing you access to simply modify the pay statement to how it "should have" looked. The system then automatically recalculates the statement, generates a delta statement reflecting only the differences between the original and corrected statements, and without performing one manual calculation, you're done!
